Weekly Countdown: Granville Mayberry and Lucy Festival April 11-12 Mayberry on Main and More

A Perfect Match: Love and Laughter

A Celebration of The Andy Griffith Show and I Love Lucy Show

The Mayberry Lucy Festival on April 11 and 12 is your chance to step back in time and soak in the down-home charm of Mayberry, all from the heart of Granville, Tennessee. Head on over to the Mayberry on Main Stage, a new attraction, where the magic of The Andy Griffith Show comes to life with performances of some of the show’s most beloved moments. You’ll laugh and maybe even get a little misty-eyed as Andy, Barney, Aunt Bee, Opie, and the other Mayberry crew take the stage for some unforgettable comedy and heartwarming scenes. From the fun-filled antics at the sheriff’s office to the sweet, small-town wisdom that made the show so special, these live performances are a real treat for fans of all ages.

Granville, Tennessee’s Mayberry Town is the perfect spot for this one-of-a-kind celebration, with Mayberry Tribute Artists and local Granville characters bringing the spirit of the show right to the streets. The Mayberry on Main performances and other on-the-street attractions are FREE with the purchase of a festival ticket and take center stage on April 11 and 12. The stage will be on Clover Street, across from the Sutton General Store. At special times throughout the festival (check the schedule), you’ll catch a variety of skits re-enacting some of the most iconic moments from The Andy Griffith Show. It’s a delightful, folksy way to relive the magic of Mayberry!

Featured performances include:

  • Opie Decides to Keep Aunt Bee

  • Nip it, Nip it in the Bud

  • Nurse Gives Rafe a Shot

  • Sew Up Fingers with the Fun Girls

  • Sergeant Carter Disciplines Gomer

  • Mayor Pike on Main Street

  • Ernest T. Bass Comes to Main Street

  • Barney and the Salt and Pepper Suit

These delightful performances will bring the magic of Mayberry to life, allowing festival goers to immerse themselves in the humor and warmth of one of television’s most beloved shows. In addition to the fun Mayberry on Main performances, be sure to swing by Daniel's Barber Shop on Clover Street, right next to Granville Gifts, for Floyd’s Two-Chair Barber Shop and visit Wally’s Service Station in Pioneer Village to witness Gomer and Goober’s antics. A big highlight of the festival will be the appearance of Norm Schultz, the tribute artist who brings the original Floyd, Walter Baldwin, to life in the skit “Two Chairs No Waiting”.  Though Baldwin appeared in just one episode of The Andy Griffith Show, he’s still fondly remembered. Norm will be joined by Allan Newsome, host of the “Two Chairs, No Waiting” podcast and co-star in the movie, Mayberry Man. They’ll team up with local tribute artist Randy Harris, who plays Floyd with the Granville Sutton Players, for a unique “Three Chairs, No Waiting” experience. It’s a rare chance to meet the folks who bring Mayberry to life—don’t miss it!

You will be entertained at Wally Service Station, the Gulf Station located in Pioneer Village, behind the white fence. Chris Bauman, Gomer Tribute artist, has performed professional Improv for over 25 years. Watch out, ladies, he says Miss Right has been playing hide-and-go-seek with him and he’s still looking for her. Steven Lish, Granville’s Sutton Player, portrays Goober. You may have seen him as Gomer or Ernest T. Bass. Shazam, this promises to put a smile on your face!

Spend some time in the Author’s Showcase located on the stage of the Event Center on Clover Street. Russell Estes, an avid Mayberry fan and author, is known for his inspirational books and Southern humor. He will be joined by author and actress Karen Knotts. You will want to talk to Karen and get an autographed copy of Tied Up in Knotts, written as a tribute to her beloved father, Don Knotts.  Randy Turner, expert on all things Mayberry, author and public speaker, will be on hand to chat and autograph books. Mayberry fans will recognize Randy for his beloved books, Mayberry First and 60 Years of Mayberry. Additionally, he is the creator of the Mayberry Day-to-Day Desk calendar and founder of the Andy Griffith Show Ambassador Program.

The Mayberry Cruise-In invites all models of antique cars to be on display. There is no entry fee, and drivers receive one free festival ticket. (see schedule at www.granvilletn.com for full details).
