Historic Granville will host the 23rd Annual Granville Quilt Festival on October 5th as part of the Granville Fall Celebration. Since the opening of the Tennessee Quilt Museum and Aunt Bee's Quilt Shop & Bakery, Granville has become known as “A Quilters Paradise.”
For 2024, there have been changes to the quilt competition with 26 different entry categories plus 6 categories for youth and one for men. There will be First, Second and Third Place Awards in each category plus a Best of the Show Award. Quilts may be entered on October 2nd from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Granville United Methodist Church, 187 Clover Street, Granville. This year the show will honor Nancy Pardue of Putnam County and with a memorial honorees Joanne Gregory and Marcia Gregory Tisdale of Smith County. Each person that enters a quilt will receive a Granville Quilt T Shirt and a 25% discount coupon on one item at Aunt Bee’s Quilt Shop & Bakery. Quilts will be displayed at the Granville United Methodist Church and the Granville Presbyterian Church.
Historic Granville will dedicate "Beyond Barn Quilts" on October 5 at 9:30 am. Buildings in Pioneer Village and around Granville will be adorned with hand painted quilt patterns.
In addition, smaller blocks painted by young budding artists will be placed on historic quilt benches at the Pruett Stage. The patterns for this project were chosen to reflect
quilts with meaning to the Granville Community. Quilts and quilt patterns are an ongoing visual testimony of an art form that has endured for over 200 years. Granville is honored to be the home of the Tennessee Quilt Textile Museum.
Also featured on October 5th, there will be "Quilt Porches & Storytelling" at four Granville front porches ending with a quilt turning at the Tennessee Quilt Museum. Storytelling will be held at 10:30 am, 12:00 and 1:30 pm with each one beginning at the Historic Sutton Homestead front porch.
Granville Fall Celebration will also feature the Grand Opening of the 2024 Artisans Festival, Jazz on the Cumberland, Craft Booths, music of all types, ten Museums, children's events, Great Food and much more.
