Ten Best Reasons to Visit Granville
One hour east of Nashville on the banks of the Cumberland River, you’ll find a hidden gem called Historic Granville. Stroll the streets lined with storybook buildings, experience a slower pace, a simpler time and understand why this is known as Tennessee’s Mayberry Town. This quaint little Southern town is filled front porches inviting visitors to “sit a spell”. It is a time many believed lost, but one that lives in Granville, TN.
A unique feature that continues the legacy of Tennessee, the Volunteer State, this town is operated by about 200 volunteers. Since volunteers serve as docents, hours are limited. Hours of Operations: Wednesday-Friday 10 AM-3 PM and Saturday 10 AM-5 PM. Arrive around 10 AM, tour Sutton General Store and purchase a town tour ticket for $7.00 which gives you access to all historic buildings and museums. At 11 AM, tour Clemons Garage, Southern Shops, Whistle Stop Saloon, Granville Whiskey Decanter Museum, Mayberry and I love Lucy Museum. Take a break, have lunch at Sutton General Store, and complete your tour of Granville with a visit to Granville Museum, Farm to Table Museum, Sutton Historic Home, Pioneer Village with antique car museum, 1880’s cabin, arts and crafts building, and vintage farm equipment and tools.
What’s old is new, a multitude of historical sites re-imagined for today’s visitors! Click below to read “Ten Best Reasons to Visit Granville” by TN Home and Farm Magazine to see why people from EVERYWHERE visit this hidden gem.
