The Blues Brokers was founded in 2006 as a four-piece group just to play music for fun and to let off a little steam. Larry Squires and Jimmy Whatley formed the group out of a mutual love for soul music, its sound, and the heart of the soul era. Over time, they began to add players and have been very fortunate to incorporate noted musicians from the Nashville area. Eventually, the band grew to its current level—a classic 10-piece soul band with a full horn section and killer vocalists. These members have spent their lives performing, writing, and arranging music, and several also have extensive experience in staging, production, and engineering. Collectively, the Blues Brokers have shared the stage and toured with several of country and pop music’s finest acts. Musical influences for the band include Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Ray Charles, Al Green, Gladys Knight, The Temptations, and many others. The Blues Brokers are a unique group of musicians dedicated to perfecting the sound of the soul era.

The Brokers entertain at corporate and charitable events, weddings, parties, concerts, and private venues. Hearing them is like hearing a complete anthology of soul classics. Audiences know every word to every song, and the Brokers play each exactly as recorded by the original artists. So whether you like to kick off your shoes and dance or sit back and tap your feet, you are sure to love the enduring soul sound of the Blues Brokers!

United States Air Force Band of Mid-America
  STARLITE

The United States Air Force Band of Mid-America’s popular music group, Starlifter, to perform at Historic Granville's Heritage Day Festival May 28, 2016 . This talented ensemble plays many styles, including rock and roll, pop, country, rhythm and blues, and patriotic crowd pleasers. In each genre, their repertoire extends from oldies to songs at the top of today’s charts.

Although Starlifter primarily entertains Air Mobility Command’s senior officers and their guests, the group also fulfills
unique mission requirements. To support Air Force Public Affairs, Starlifter treks across the Midwest on civic outreach concert tours. These shows are always free and open to the general public. Additionally, the group supports the Air Force’s recruiting mission by performing at public high schools. Each year, they provide thousands of America’s young hopefuls a glimpse into the pride and professionalism that thrives in the United States Air Force.

Demonstrating the flexibility and readiness inherent to the entire Air Force, Starlifter has deployed as part of our Air
Expeditionary Forces and brought a taste of home to over 6,200 US and Coalition troops in Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Djiboutii. In 2009, the group deployed on a Humanitarian and Civic assistance mission with the U.S. Naval Hospital Ship “Comfort”. They performed for more than 34,000 people in over 90 performances in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Antigua, Colombia, Panama, El Salvador and Nicaragua. Their outstanding performances earned dozens of standing ovations and bountiful praise from their deployed brothers and sisters in arms. In 2014, Starlifter deployed again to nine different countries performing for over 10,000 miltary and international audiences. They visitied Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, Afghanistan and United Arab Emirates boosting morale and building international relationships.

The "Jimmy C. Gotcher After-School Music Program" is managed by the Granville Museum Inc.
Started in 2006 by a donation honoring the father of the local high school and middle school band director.

Since that time hundreds of after-school music lessons and workshops

are given at the annual Twin Lakes Small Band Clinic
These are free of charge
and given by local
college students and professional musicians.

Not only do the students experience a musical
culture they might never
have known, the college
students learn to be a  mentor of youth.

The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has recognized us with a one time Chet  Atkins Music Grant.

In order to continue this wonderful,  educational program we are asking for  your donations as we strive to do our part for our youth.
Thank you for your consideration.
